HAYWARD — The Sawyer County Board will take public comment on its proposed 2027 budget at a hearing Thursday, October 15, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sawyer County Courthouse in Hayward.
Our Sawyer County page posted four new bookings from the county roster over October 12–13. Alex J Woller, 24, was booked October 13 on an out-of-county warrant. Booked October 12: Kodi A Smith, 29, on charges of felony bail jumping, second-offense OWI, failure to install an ignition interlock device, and operating while revoked; Shannon L Jack Jr, 29, on charges of resisting or obstructing an officer and misdemeanor bail jumping; and Caleb M Prusinski, 41, on a charge of second-offense OWI.
The Hayward area gets rain before it gets cold. The National Weather Service expects rain showers likely Thursday, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation and a tenth to a quarter inch of rain, followed by gusty northwest winds on Friday. Friday night then turns clear and cold, with a low near 25 degrees — the coldest night in the current forecast, and the kind of hard freeze that ends the season for unprotected plants. Saturday rebounds to sunny skies and a high near 61. There were no active watches, warnings, or advisories for the Hayward area when this was checked early Wednesday.

Arrests are only half the story. This section will track what happened next — charges, pleas, sentencings — with the outcome labeled on every item. For now it shows the format with clearly fictional examples.

HAYWARD — The Sawyer County Board will take public comment on its proposed 2027 budget at a hearing Thursday, October 15, at 6:00 p.m. at the Sawyer County Courthouse in Hayward.
The proposal totals $19,137,082 in general-fund expenditures and other uses, down about 2.1 percent from the 2026 figure of $19,539,910. Public safety remains the county's largest expense at a proposed $10,140,102, followed by general government at $5,597,233 and conservation and development at $1,233,322.
The total county tax levy across all funds would rise 3.38 percent, to $16,495,627. Even so, the county's levy rate is projected to fall from $2.43 to $2.21 per $1,000 of valuation — a drop of about 9 percent — because the county's equalized value grew 13.67 percent over the past year, to roughly $7.45 billion. In plain terms: the county is asking for slightly more money in total, spread across a tax base that grew faster than the levy did.
The proposed levy includes $1,585,034 for EMS operations, up 4.55 percent, and $3,778,382 for debt service. The general-fund property tax levy line is $7,645,062, down from $7,814,728 in 2026.
Residents who cannot attend can review the full proposed budget on the county website or inspect it in person at the County Administration offices. The hearing is the public's scheduled opportunity to speak to the board about the proposal before it is adopted.

Open the channel ↗The plan, set by the owner: the scanner feed reaches this app directly — the owner’s own receiver, to a relay, to the player below — not through Facebook. The relay is not built yet, so the player shows its true state. It will only ever say LIVE while audio is actually playing on your device.
OFFLINE — the direct feed is not connected yet.
Sawyer County Now does not rebroadcast scanner audio yet. A volunteer-run node in Hayward carries Sawyer County sheriff dispatch, fire dispatch/paging, and WISCOM talkgroups on Broadcastify Calls — listening happens on Broadcastify’s site, under Broadcastify’s terms. The existing “LIVE Sawyer County Scanner” broadcasts also continue on the Sawyer County Mugshots and Bookings Facebook Page, as a channel separate from this app.

The direct leg is designed: one capture on the owner’s PC, an Icecast relay, and this player — fully independent of the Facebook broadcasts, which keep their own audience. The remaining steps are owner decisions (relay hosting, the listen address, channel scope) and a supervised pilot. When the feed connects, this screen shows honest LIVE / CONNECTING / STALLED / OFFLINE states — never a fake player, and never a LIVE badge on draining buffer audio.
An arrest is an allegation, not an outcome. Every item here will carry its status on its face — and a disposition the moment one exists.
CHARGED — ALLEGATION ONLY means charges were filed. Nothing has been proven, and the person is presumed innocent.
DISPOSITION means the court reached an outcome — plea, dismissal, sentence — and the item will say which, with its source and date.

Sawyer County Now keeps no database of people — no name search, no booking history, no registry mirror. Names get mis-matched, and accusations outlive their outcomes; the official source is the only version that can correct itself. Here is the verified short list:
